Distance Education Course Content
A Gospel-centered curriculum delivered through live online classes — covering language arts, science, history, and mathematics from 1st grade through graduation.

Liahona Distance Elementary includes five live classes: Reading, Writing, History, Science, and Math. Most classes are taught daily for one half-hour, four days a week. The program emphasizes clear writing, effective note-taking, reading comprehension, memorization, and critical thinking. Reading, History, and Science use a family-style format with all grades 1–6 participating together, while Writing and Math are level-based for differentiated instruction. Gospel principles are woven throughout the curriculum.
Reading
All elementary students participate together in a family-style reading class, building comprehension, vocabulary, and a love of literature through daily instruction four days a week.
Writing
Writing classes are grouped by skill level rather than grade, allowing each student to develop sentence structure, grammar, composition, and creative expression at an appropriate pace.
History
History is taught in a family-style format for all elementary grades, connecting historical events and figures to Gospel principles and the founding of America.
Science
Science instruction brings all elementary students together to explore the natural world through observation, experiments, and discovery — all rooted in reverence for God's creation.
Mathematics
Math classes are level-based, ensuring each student is placed according to concept mastery. Instruction covers number sense, operations, geometry, measurement, and problem-solving skills appropriate to each level.
