The Scoop Access Instructions

* Open an Internet browser. You will need to use the Internet Explorer browser in order to access the databases in The Scoop.

* Go to the Liahona Home Page at http://www.LiahonaEducation.com

* Click on the link for The Scoop.

* You will be brought to a Login Screen.

At the LOGIN screen we have posted directions to login. If these steps are followed, you should not have trouble logging in.

*To access The Scoop, you must enter the requested information. Use the first and last name of the student as they were registered. This is how the computer verifies that your student is enrolled at Liahona. There is no separate parent login.

*Be sure to put a SPACE between the first and last name.

*If this is your first time logging in, you will not yet have a password. Click the "New or Forgotten Password" button.

*You will be asked to again enter your student’s first and last name as you entered it on the Liahona Enrollment Form.

*Click the “Request Password Via E-mail” button. The password will be sent to the e-mail address we have on file in our database.

If you did not provide an e-mail address on the enrollment form, then we do not have your e-mail address in the database and the computer cannot send you the password.

Because the computer will be verifying information, generating passwords and e-mailing information to you, it is vital that you make sure your information in our database is kept current so you will not miss anything.

Now that you have your password, follow the above Login procedure to access The Scoop.
You will be brought to a Table of Contents page with menu options:

*Daily Overview:
Click on Daily Overview and select the week and day you wish to view. This is where you will find a brief synopsis of each class the student is enrolled in. You will also find assignment instructions and a link to any handouts for the day, if applicable. Use your browser’s Back Button to return to the Select Week and Day Screen. At the bottom of this screen, click on the Table of Contents button to return to the Table of Contents.

*Latest News:
This is where you will find information about upcoming events such as Youth Conference, Super Trip, Picture Day, student achievements, Graduation info, etc. Past weeks will be archived and can be retrieved by using the drop down box in the upper right corner.

*Getting to Know You:
This is a fun way to introduce your student to our Distance Education and Academy community.
One of the advantages of our program is the opportunity Liahona students have to become acquainted with others who embrace similar values. There is a brief profile that can be filled out and uploaded to the site. Please note: All Getting to Know You submissions are reviewed and will be deleted if there is any inappropriate content.

At the Table of Contents click on Getting to Know You. A drop-down list of students will be on the screen. Highlight and click the student name to view their profile. To update your profile, highlight the name and click on the Update My Information button. Upload a photo by clicking on the Upload My Picture button.

There is a Change My Password button on this screen as well. You may click on that button to change your Scoop access password.

Click on the Table of Contents button to return to that screen to choose another Menu Option.

*Grade Book:
Click on the Grade Book button to check your student’s scores.

*Discussion Board:
This is not a chat room, but a place for Teacher-directed discussion, clarification, student questions, etc. Teachers will monitor the discussions and participation in discussions may be graded. It goes without saying that all Liahona Behavior Standards apply. Inappropriate content or language will not be tolerated.
There is a Current Topics drop down to list topics available, and a Discuss button to submit a question or comment to the discussion.

*Logout:
When you are ready to leave The Scoop, click the Logout button.

If you experience problems logging on, please call Liahona at 801-785-7850.
