Threads of Liberty by DeGraff and DeGraff - $45.00 + S & H  ( 2007 Civics Curriculum)

Threads of Liberty is the first civics/government textbook which incorporates the history and principles upon which our Constitution and Bill of Rights were conceived plus LDS scripture and commentary by prophets and general authorities. This high school text asks it's readers the question: If you were the "single thread" referred to by Joseph Smith, how secure would our Constitution be? The authors of this text believe teaching about the founding of America and our Constitution without the inclusion of religion and the role of divine providence is not history, it is fiction. Time periods covered include the: Protestant Revolution, Puritan migration, American Colonies, Great Awakening, Constitutional Convention plus landmark Supreme Court cases which have unraveled the Constitution's original intent.

Wise Men Raised Up, Volume 2 - Westward Expansion with LDS Commentary - Edited by Brent and Kolleen DeGraff - $30.00 + S&H

This text examines the westward expansion of the United States, the people and events that prepared the way for a united country and the exodus of the Latter-day Saints to Utah. The men and women studied were "raised up" for providential purposes and were blessed by divine guidance in their efforts. Students will read thought provoking stories extracted from 19th and early 20th century texts. These early anecdotes recognize the role of Divine Intervention in the growth of our country. Commentary concerning these events by LDS religious and educational authorities is incorporated into the text. Wise Men Raised Up Volume 2 is intended as a supplementary reader for 7th - 12th grades in the study of American History encompassing the epoch from 1800 - 1860.

The Illustrated life of George Washington by the Hon. J.T. Headley - $25.00 + S & H

“When I think of the founders of this great republic, I think of George Washington. There is no question but what he was an instrument of God in the founding of a nation where the Church might be restored and where the Gospel might be returned to mankind, because this nation is founded upon the great cornerstone of the gospel.” Elder Joseph L. Wirthlin This reprint of the 1861 biography describes how Washington succeeded in spite of the disasters and sufferings experienced during the seven year ordeal of the American Revolution. We watch Washington standing amid his band of patriots with no hope other than their reliance upon “Divine Providence.” Read of Washington’s enthusiastic love of liberty, unconquerable resolution and “firm reliance on Heaven”, all for the sake of freedom and principle. Included are the emotional descriptions of his faith and prayers during the trials of Boston, Trenton, Valley Forge, Long Island, and Yorktown. This inspiring story of George Washington restores him to his rightful role as a hero, the Washington known by our forefathers.

Liahona Grammar Series by Tracy Willburn, PhD.

This series of grammar books is very different from most approaches to teaching grammar. First, it uses a gospel context to invite the spirit and help students look at grammar in everyday situations with which they are familiar. Secondly, it believes that grammar is best taught by the study of good writing and then emulating those writing principles. Current research is showing that a writing-based grammar program is more effective in teaching students to write well than the present over-use of rote exercises found in most grammar texts.

Each text is divided into specific concepts with exercises and additional practice suggestions. The interactive examples and exercises are designed to ensure that students understand the concept being introduced. The answers directly follow the exercises. While the fundamental elements of grammar are included and reviewed in each book, the series builds upon itself and asks the student to think a little differently about how grammar is a part of writing.
